Acton was a township in Acton ancient parish, Nantwich hundred (SJ
6352), which became a civil parish in 1866.
It includes the hamlet of Dorfold and part of Burford.
The population was 262 in 1801, 351 in 1851, 258 in 1901, and 293 in 1951.
