A civil parish (SJ 8478) created in 1894 from part of Chorley (near Wilmslow). In 1936 the civil parish was extended to include the whole of
Bollin Fee, and parts of Chorley and Wilmslow civil parishes.
Including the hamlets of Belmont, Elm Grove and The Ryleys.
The population of Alderley Edge was 2223 in 1901 and 3689 in 1951.
Chorley (Alderley Edge), St. Philip (C of E). Built 1853 as a chapel to Wilmslow, becoming the parish church for Chorley (near Wilmslow) and
Alderley Edge in 1866. Registers of Baptisms 1853-1924 and Marriages 1866-1959 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office
(no burials here).
