ANTROBUS

• Antrobus was a township in Great Budworth ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 6580), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• It includes the hamlets of Arley, Grandires Green, and Pole Lane Ends.
• The population was 351 in 1801, 489 in 1851, 373 in 1901, and 726 in 1951.

Boundary Changes

• 1882 March 25 — Gained a detached part of Seven Oaks (3 acres, pop. 0 in 1881), and lost a detached part to Seven Oaks (3 acres, pop. 6 in 1881)
• 1936 April 1 — Gained the whole of Crowley (1400 acres, pop. 139 in 1931) and the whole of Seven Oaks (631 acres, pop. 163 in 1931)
• 1983 April 1 — Lost part to Aston by Budworth
• 1988 April 1 — Gained part of Whitley, and lost part to Whitley

Churches and Chapels

• Great Budworth: St. Mary & All Saints (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Antrobus.
• Antrobus: St. Mark, Knutsford Road (Church of England). From 1848 the district church for the township of Antrobus.
• Antrobus, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Rebuilt in 1935.
