A township in Bidston Parish, Wirral Hundred (SJ 2889). In 1928 parts of Bidston were transferred to Birkenhead and Wallasey civil parishes, and in 1933 the remaining area was added to Birkenhead civil parish.
Included the hamlets of Bidston Moss and Ford.
The population was 199 in 1801, 293 in 1851 and 465 in 1901.

Bidston, St. Oswald (C of E). An ancient parish church, originally serving the townships of Bidston cum Ford, Birkenhead, part of
Claughton cum Grange, Moreton (near Wallasey) and Saughall Massie. Registers of Baptisms
1682-1986, Marriages 1682-1980 and Burials 1679-1958 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office, where Bishop's Transcripts
survive from 1581.
Birkenhead, All Saints (C of E). The parish church for part of Bidston from 1911 to 1971.
Leasowe, St Chad (C of E). The parish church for part of Bidston from 1957.
