BREDBURY & ROMILEY
Bredbury and Romiley was a civil parish created in 1936 from the civil
parishes of Bredbury , Compstall ,
Romiley , and part of Hyde .
Since 1974 it has been an unparished area in the county of Greater
Manchester .
The population was 17818 in 1951.

(2770 acres, pop. 7144 in 1931), Compstall (801
acres, pop. 804 in 1931), Hyde (24 acres, pop. 20 in
1931), Marple (less than 1 acre, pop. 0 in 1931) and
Romiley (1158 acres, pop. 3722 in 1931).
1952 April 1 — Lost the Brinnington area to Stockport
(463 acres, pop. 151 in 1951)
