CHOLMONDELEY

• Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley) was a township in Malpas Parish, Broxton Hundred (SJ 5451), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• Including the hamlets of Croxton Green and Dowse Green.
• The population was 292 in 1801, 269 in 1851, 298 in 1901, and 266 in 1951.

CHURCHES AND CHAPELS

• Malpas, St. Oswald (C of E). The ancient parish church for Cholmondeley.
• Cholmondeley, St. Nicholas (C of E). A private chapel in Cholmondeley park, associated with Malpas St Oswald. Bishop's Transcripts 1601–1631 and 1841–1868 are held at the Cheshire Record Office. The location of the original registers is uncertai.
• Bickley, St. Wenefride (C of E). The parish church since 1893.
