Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley) was a township in Malpas
Parish, Broxton Hundred (SJ 5451), which became a civil parish in 1866.
Including the hamlets of Croxton Green and Dowse Green.
The population was 292 in 1801, 269 in 1851, 298 in 1901, and 266 in 1951.

Cholmondeley, St. Nicholas (C of E). A private chapel in Cholmondeley park, associated with Malpas St Oswald. Bishop's Transcripts 1601–1631 and 1841–1868 are held at
the Cheshire Record Office. The location of the original registers is uncertai.
