Croughton (pronounced Craw-tun) is a township in St. Oswald's
ancient parish, Broxton hundred (SJ 4172), which became a civil parish in 1866.
The population was 33 in 1801, 22 in 1851, 29 in 1901, and 38 in 1951.

of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Croughton.
Chester: St. Thomas of Canterbury
(Church of England). Built in 1872 as a chapel to Chester: St. Oswald,
which it succeeded as the district church in 1881.
