Davenham (pronounced Day'vnum) was a township in Davenham ancient parish, Northwich hundred (SJ 6571), which became a civil parish in 1866.
It includes the hamlet of Mere Heath.
The population was 327 in 1801, 552 in 1851, 706 in 1901, and 2305 in 1951.

parish church for the township of Davenham.
Davenham, Trinity
Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1819, rebuilt in 1888.
Davenham, Congregational Chapel later Methodist Chapel (Primitive),
Hartford Road. Built in 1852, closed in 1962. Registers of marriages 1924-1957
are at the Cheshire Record Office.
