FRODSHAM LORDSHIP

• Frodsham Lordship was a township in Frodsham ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 5176), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• The civil parish was abolished in 1936 to become part of Frodsham.
• It included the hamlets of Beacon Hill, Bradley, Crowmere, Dunsdale, Fivecrosses, Irondish (part), Netherton, Overton and Woodhouses.
• The population was 301 in 1801, 1010 in 1851, and 1403 in 1901.

Boundary Changes

• 1883 March 25 — Lost seven detached parts to Frodsham (159 acres, pop. 0 in 1891), and gained eight detached parts of Frodsham (108 acres, pop. 150 in 1891, including Brecon Hill and Five Crosses)
• 1936 April 1 — Abolished and incorporated into Frodsham (2630 acres, pop. 1563 in 1931).

• Frodsham: St. Lawrence (Church of England). The ancient parish church for Frodsham Lordship.
• Overton, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan), Five Crosses. Built in 1885.
