GOOSTREY

• Goostrey is a civil parish created in 1936 by the union of Goostrey cum Barnshaw and Blackden
• Including the hamlets of Barnshaw, Jodrell Bank (part), Shawcroft and Winterbottom.
• The population was  794 in 1951.

CHURCHES AND CHAPELS

• Sandbach, St. Mary (C of E). The ancient parish church for Goostrey cum Barnshaw.
• Goostrey, St. Luke (C of E). A chapelry in Sandbach parish, originally serving the townships of Blackden, Goostrey cum Barnshaw, Leese and Twemlow. Registers of Baptisms 1561–1964, Marriages 1561–1840 and Burials 1561–1949 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office.
• Goostrey, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1875.
