GOOSTREY CUM BARNSHAW

• Goostrey cum Barnshaw was a township and chapelry in Sandbach ancient parish, Northwich hundred (SJ 7770), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• The civil parish was abolished in 1936 to become part of Goostrey.
• It includes the hamlets of Barnshaw, Jodrell Bank (part), Shawcroft and Winterbottom.
• The population was 231 in 1801, 268 in 1851, 352 in 1901.

• 1936 April 1 — Abolished and incorporated into Goostrey (1795 acres, pop. 508 in 1931)

• Goostrey, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1875.
