A township in Bebington Parish, Wirral Hundred (SJ 3184). In 1894 part of Higher Bebington was transferred to the new civil parish of Rock Ferry,
and in 1922 the remainder was incorporated into Bebington cum Bromborough civil parish.
Included the hamlets of Dacre Hill and (until 1894) Rock Ferry and part of Woodhey..
The population was 143 in 1801, 1478 in 1851 and 1540 in 1901. .
Higher Bebington, Christ Church (C of E), Kings Road. Built 1859 as a chapel to Rock Ferry, becoming the parish church for part of Higher Bebington in 1877. Registers
of Baptisms 1859-1922 and Marriages 1877-1913 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office. Burial registers from 1860 are
held at the church..
