LACH DENNIS

Lach Dennis was a township in Witton Chapelry of Great Budworth ancient parish, Northwich hundred (SJ 7171), which became a civil parish in 1866.
The population was 43 in 1801, 28 in 1851, 184 in 1901, and 68 in 1951.

1889 March 24 — Gained detached parts Nos. 2 and 3 of Rudheath (42 acres, pop. 0 in 1891)
1892 March 25 — Gained the whole of Birches (pop. 6 in 1901), Hulse (pop. 42 in 1901), Newhall (nr. Davenham) (pop. 18 in 1901) and Stublach (pop. 63 in 1901)
1936 April 1 — Gained parts of Cranage (113 acres, pop. 13 in 1931) and Leese (132 acres, pop. 25 in 1931)
1988 April 1 — Gained parts of Allostock, Lostock Gralam, Rudheath and Whatcroft, and lost parts to Byley and Lostock Gralam

Great Budworth: St. Mary & All Saints (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the townships of Birches, Hulse and Lach Dennis.
Witton: St. Helen (Church of England). An ancient chapel to Great Budworth: St. Mary & All Saints.
Lostock Gralam: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England). The district church for Birches, Hulse and Lach Dennis from 1844.
Davenham: St. Wilfrid (Church of England). The ancient parish church for Newhall, which became part of Lach Dennis in 1892.
Byley cum Lees: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England). The district church for Stublach, which became part of Lach Dennis in 1892.
Lach Dennis: All Saints (Church of England). Built in 1896 as a chapel to Lostock Gralam: St. John the Evangelist.
