MANLEY

• Manley was a township in Frodsham ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 5172), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• It includes the hamlets of Dunham Heath, The Moss, Ravelstone, Siddalls Hill and Simmonds Hill.
• The population was 108 in 1801, 395 in 1851, 305 in 1901, and 793 in 1951.

Boundary Changes

• 1936 April 1 — Gained part of Kingswood (1217 acres, pop. 482 in 1931)
• 1988 April 1 — Gained part of Kingsley

Churches and Chapels

• Frodsham: St. Lawrence (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Manley.
• Alvanley: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England). From 1930 the district church for the township of Manley.
• Manley, Methodist Church (Primitive). Built in 1859, closed c.1970. Registers 1899-1965 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
