• Mouldsworth was a township in Tarvin ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 5070), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• The population was 142 in 1801, 158 in 1851, 172 in 1901, and 260 in 1951.

• Tarvin: St. Andrew (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Mouldsworth.
• Ashton Hayes: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England). The district church for the township of Mouldsworth from 1848.

• Mouldsworth, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1816, rebuilt in 1887.
