NESTON CUM PARKGATE

Neston cum Parkgate is a civil parish created in 1894 by uniting Great Neston, Little Neston and Leighton (near Neston).
In 1974 it became an unparished area, and in 2009 it was abolished to become part of the civil parish of Neston.
The population was 4154 in 1901, and 7005 in 1951.

1894 September 30 — Created from the whole of Great Neston (pop. 2201 in 1901), Leighton (near Neston) (pop. 728 in 1901) and Little Neston (pop. 1225 in 1901)
1933 April 1 — Gained parts of Raby (2 acres, pop. 0 in 1931) and Thornton Hough (53 acres, pop. 14 in 1931), and lost part to Raby (101 acres, pop. 0 in 1931)
2009 April 1 — Abolished and incorporated into Neston.

Neston: St. Mary & St. Helen (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the townships of Great Neston, Little Neston, and Leighton (near Neston).
Willaston: Christ Church (Church of England). The district church for part of Little Neston from 1865.
Thornton Hough: All Saints (Church of England). The district church for part of Little Neston from 1869.
Little Neston: St. Michael. A chapel to Neston: St. Mary & St. Helen, founded by 1997.
Neston: St. Wenefride (Roman Catholic). Founded in 1843.
Neston, Zion Methodist Chapel, Little Neston (Primitive). Built in 1872.
Neston, Presbyterian Church. Built in 1884.
Neston, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan), Park Street/High Street. Built in 1908.
Neston, United Reformed Church (Independent/Congregational). Founded in 1857, rebuilt in 1909.
