Newhall was a township in the ancient parishes of Wrenbury and Audlem, Nantwich hundred
(SJ 6245), which became a civil parish in 1866.
It includes the hamlets of Aston, Aston Heath, Barnett Brook, Brown's Bank,
Dodds Green, Grandford, Grindley Green, Hollingreen, Kingswood Green, Maiden Estate,
Salesbrook, Sandford (part) and Sheppenhall.
The population was 819 in 1801, 891 in 1851, 718 in 1901, and 720 in 1951.
Wrenbury: St. Margaret (Church of England). The ancient
parish church for the greater part (3270 acres) of the township of Newhall.
Audlem: St. James the Great (Church of England). The ancient
parish church for the smaller part (889 acres, pop. 95 in 1871) of the township of Newhall.
