NORBURY (near Stockport)

• Norbury was a township in Stockport parish, Macclesfield Hundred (SJ 9285), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• In 1900 the whole of Norbury was added to Hazel Grove cum Bramhall.
• Including part of the village of High Lane, which was transferred to Marple in 1936.
• The population was 592 in 1801, 848 in 1851, and 1679 in 1901.

• Stockport, St. Mary (C of E). The ancient parish church for Norbury..
• Norbury, St. Thomas (C of E). Founded 1737 as a chapel in Stockport parish, becoming the parish church for Norbury in 1842, extended 1878 to include Bosden and part of Torkington. Registers of Baptisms 1829–1983, Marriages 1837–1984 amd Burials 1834–1898  have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office
• High Lane, St. Thomas (C of E). The parish church for part of Norbury from 1860.
