NORLEY
Norley was a township in Frodsham ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred
(SJ 5572), which became a civil parish in 1866.
It includes the hamlets of Blakemere, Breech Moss, Flaxmere, Gadbank, Hambletts
Hollow, Houndslough, Maddocks Hill and Pytchley Hollow.
The population was 376 in 1801, 698 in 1851, 656 in 1901, and 852 in 1951.

No.2 to Crowton
(5 acres, pop. 0 in 1881).
1883 March 25 — Gained a detached part of Crowton

1936 April 1 — Gained parts of
Kingsley (142 acres, pop. 23 in 1931) and Kingswood
(421 acres, pop. 28 in 1931)
1988 April 1 — Gained parts of Crowton and Delamere ,
and lost part to Crowton
Churches and Chapels
Frodsham: St. Lawrence (Church of England ). The ancient
parish church for the township of Norley.
Norley: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England ). Founded
in 1833 as a chapel to Frodsham: St. Lawrence, becoming the
district church for Norley in 1861.
Crowton: Christ Church (Church of England ). The
district church for a detached part of Norley from 1872 to 1881.
Norley: Our Lady of the Assumption (Roman Catholic ). Founded in 1945.
Closed in 1982.
Norley, Central Methodist
Chapel (Wesleyan). Founded in 1779, rebuilt in 1882. Registers 1871-1891 are
at the Cheshire Record Office.
Norley, Bethel Methodist Chapel (Free). Built in 1836. Registers 1909-1968
are at the Cheshire Record Office.
Norley, Zion Methodist
Chapel (Primitive). Built 1870.
