OAKMERE

• Oakmere was a township in Delamere ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 5769)—created in 1812 from the extra-parochial area of Delamere Forest— which became a civil parish in 1866.
• It includes the hamlets of Blakemere, Crabtree Green, Gallowsclough, Hart Hill Bank, Plover's Moss and Sandy Brow (part).
• The population was 252 in 1851, 370 in 1901, and 467 in 1951.

Boundary Changes

• 1936 April 1 — Gained parts of Little Budworth (14 acres, pop. 20 in 1931) and Marton (near Winsford) (39 acres, pop. 10 in 1931)
• 1988 April 1 — Gained parts of Cuddington (near Weaverham) and Marton (near Winsford), and lost parts to Cuddington (near Weaverham), Little Budworth and Whitegate and Marton.

• Sandiway: St. John the Evangelist (Church of England). The district church for part of Oakmere from 1935.
