"OFFERTON, a township in the parish of STOCKPORT, hundred of MACCLESFIELD, county palatine of CHESTER, 2½ miles (S.E. by E.) from Stockport, containing 401 inhabitants. There is a trifling sum, left by Richard Dodge in 1765, for teaching two poor children whose parents do not receive parochial relief."
