TABLEY SUPERIOR

• Tabley Superior (or Over Tabley) was a township in Rostherne ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 7280), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• It includes the hamlets of Over Tabley, Sudlow, Tabley Brook, Tabley Hill and Tabley Vale.
• The population was 392 in 1801, 537 in 1851, 493 in 1901, and 368 in 1951.

Boundary Changes

• 1936 April 1 — Lost part to Knutsford (446 acres, pop. 118 in 1931)

• Rostherne: St. Mary (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Over Tabley.
• Over Tabley: St. Paul (Church of England). The district church for Over Tabley from 1855.
