PENSBY
Pensby was a township in Woodchurch Parish, Wirral Hundred (SJ 2683),
which became a civil parish in 1866.
Since 1974 it has been part of the county of Merseyside.
Including the hamlets of Arno Hill and Lingdale.
The population was 22 in 1801, 41 in 1851, 48 in 1901, and 2996 in 1951.
CHURCHES AND CHAPELS
Woodchurch, Holy Cross (C of E). The ancient parish church for Pensby.
Barnston, Christ Church (C of E). The parish church since 1880.
Pensby, St. Michael and All Angels (C of E). Founded 1958 as a chapel to Barnston. Registers of Baptisms from 1958 and Marriages from 1964 are held at the church.
