POTT SHRIGLEY

• Pott Shrigley was a township in Prestbury Parish, Macclesfield Hundred (SJ 9480), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• Including the hamlets of Berristall, Birchencliffe, Brook Bank, Cophurst Knott, Mitchell Fold, Unwin Pool and Walkers Green.
• The population was 369 in 1801, 467 in 1851, 313 in 1901, and 415 in 1951.

• Prestbury, St. Peter (C of E). The ancient parish church for Pott Shrigley.
• Pott Shrigley, St. Christopher (C of E). An ancient chapelry in Prestbury parish, becoming the parish church for Pott Shrigley in 1880. Registers of Baptisms 1630–1998, Marriages 1685–1751 & 1880–1984 and Burials 1685–1956 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office.
• Pott Shrigley, Methodist Chapel, Green Close (New Connexion). Built in 1861.
