RABY

• Raby was a township in Neston ancient parish, Wirral hundred (SJ 3179), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• Since 1974 it has been an unparished area in the county of Merseyside.
• It includes the hamlet of Plymyard.
• The population was 131 in 1801, 195 in 1851, 350 in 1901, and 308 in 1951.

Boundary Changes

• 1883 March 25 — Gained detached parts Nos. 1 and 3 from Little Neston (66 acres, pop. 0 in 1891)
• 1889 March 24 — Gained detached part No. 2 from Little Neston (213 acres, pop. 67 in 1891, including Raby Drive and Hargrave Hall)
• 1933 April 1 — Gained parts of Neston cum Parkgate (101 acres, pop. 0 in 1931) and Willaston (near Neston) (60 acres, pop. 0 in 1931), and lost part to Neston cum Parkgate (2 acres, pop. 0 in 1931).
