ROMILEY
Romiley was a township in Chadkirk Chapelry of Stockport Parish, Macclesfield Hundred (SJ 9590),
which became a civil parish in 1866.
In 1936 the whole of Romiley was added to
Bredbury & Romiley civil parish.
Including the hamlets of Barlowfold, Chadkirk, Cherry Tree, Greave Fold and Lane Ends.
The population was 825 in 1801, 1364 in 1851, and 2416 in 1901.

Stockport, St. Mary (C of E). The ancient parish church for Romiley.
Chadkirk, St. Chad (C of E). Founded in 1745 as a chapelry to Stockport, St. Mary, becoming the parish church for Romiley in 1876. Registers of Baptisms 1748–1971,
Marriages 1748–1754 & 1868–1957 and Burials 1755–1950 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
Werneth, St. Paul (C of E). Serving part of Romiley from 1877.
Romiley, Methodist Chapel (Primitive).
