Romiley was a township in Chadkirk Chapelry of Stockport ancient parish,
Macclesfield hundred (SJ 9590), which became a civil parish in 1866.

The civil parish was abolished in 1936 to become parts of
Bredbury & Romiley and Marple.
- It included the hamlets of Barlowfold, Chadkirk, Cherry Tree, Greave Fold and
Lane Ends.
- The population was 825 in 1801, 1364 in 1851, and 2416 in 1901.
