SHAVINGTON CUM GRESTY

Shavington cum Gresty was a township in Wybunbury ancient parish, Nantwich hundred (SJ 7052), which became a civil parish in 1866.
It includes the hamlets of Dodds Bank, Goodall's Corner (part), Park Estate, Puseydale and Sugar Loaf.
The population was 189 in 1801, 453 in 1851, 1149 in 1901, and 1850 in 1951.

1894 March 24 — Lost part to Monks Coppenhall (pop. 924 in 1901)
1936 April 1 — Lost part to Monks Coppenhall (140 acres, pop. 740 in 1931)
1990 April 1 — Gained parts of Hough, Rope and Shavington cum Gresty, and lost parts to Basford and Wybunbury

Wybunbury: St. Chad (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Shavington cum Gresty.
Crewe: St. Andrew (Church of England). A district church for part of Shavington cum Gresty from 1926.
Shavington, Free Gospel Chapel. Built in 1871.
Shavington, Methodist Chapel (Free). Founded in 1835, Built in 1886, closed in 1936. Registers 1904-1936 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
Shavington, Methodist Chapel (Primitive), Rope Lane. Built in 1869, closed in 1967 Registers 1926-1955 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
Shavington, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1876.
