"SHOTWICK-PARK, a liberty (extra-parochial), in the higher division of the hundred of WIRRALL, county palatine of CHESTER, 4¼ miles (N. W.) from Chester, containing 23 inhabitants. This was the site of a castle formerly belonging to the crown. Henry II. is said to have lodged here on his journey to and from Ireland; and Edward I. occupied it in 1278. The castle was standing in Leland's time, and there were some remains in 1622, since which period every vestige has been gradually removed." - Shotwick Park was an extra-parochial place in Wirral hundred (SJ 3571), which became a civil parish in 1858.
- The population was 25 in 1801, 13 in 1851, 8 in 1901, 78 in 1951, and 56 in 2001.
- In 2015 the civil parish was abolished and incorporated into Saughall & Shotwick Park and Puddington.
