SOMERFORD

• Somerford was a township in Astbury Parish, Northwich Hundred (SJ 8459), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• In 1895 the whole of Radnor was added to Somerford.
• Including the hamlets of Black Firs and Loachbrook (part).
• The population of Somerford was 142 in 1801, 79 in 1851, 98 in 1901, and 531 in 1951.

CHURCHES AND CHAPELS

• Astbury, St. Mary (C of E). The ancient parish church for Somerford.
• Somerford, All Saints. A private chapel. Registers of Burials 1691–1982 are included with Astbury registers on microfilm at Cheshire Record Office (no baptisms or marriages).
