• Stretton was a township in Great Budworth ancient parish, Bucklow hundred (SJ 6282), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• It includes the hamlet of Stockley.
• The population was 220 in 1801, 367 in 1851, 310 in 1901, and 1083 in 1951.

Churches and Chapels

• Great Budworth: St. Mary & All Saints (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Stretton.
• Stretton: St. Matthew (Church of England). Built in 1827 as a chapel to Great Budworth: St. Mary & All Saints, becoming the district church for Stretton in 1834.
