The population was 674 in 1801, 1171 in 1851, 1454 in 1901, and 1538 in 1951.
CHURCHES AND CHAPELS
Tarporley, St. Helen (C of E). An ancient parish church, originally serving the townships of Eaton (near Tarporley), Rushton, Tarporley and Utkinton. Registers of Baptisms 1558–1921, Marriages 1558–1923 and Burials 1558–1888 have been deposited at
the Cheshire Record Office.
Tarporley, St. Thomas a Becket (Roman Catholic), Nantwich Road/Eaton Road. Founded 1938.
Tarporley, Baptist Union Chapel. Founded 1817, Built in 1866.
Tarporley, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1791, rebuilt in 1867, closed in 1976. Registers 1839–1894 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
Tarporley, Methodist Chapel (Primitive). Built in 1846.
