THORNTON HOUGH

• Thornton Hough was a township in Neston Parish, Wirral Hundred (SJ 3080), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• Since 1974 it has been part of the county of Merseyside.
• The population was 165 in 1801, 164 in 1851, 547 in 1901, and 506 in 1951.

CHURCHES AND CHAPELS

• Neston, St. Mary & St. Helen (C of E). The ancient parish church for Thornton Hough.
• Thornton Hough, All Saints (C of E). Founded 1868 as the parish church for Brimstage, part of Little Neston, part of Raby, and Thornton Hough. Registers of Baptisms 1868–1902 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office. Registers of Marriages from 1869 and Burials from 1865 are held at the church.
• Thornton Hough, United Reformed Church (Independent/Congregational). Built in 1903.
