Timperley was a township in Bowdon Parish, Bucklow Hundred (SJ 7787), which
became a civil parish in 1866.
In 1936 the whole of Timperley was added to Altrincham.
The population was 588 in 1801, 1008 in 1851, and 3215 in 1901.

Timperley, Christ Church (C of E). Built in 1849, a separate parish from 1852 serving the township of Timperley. Registers of Baptisms 1851–1976, Marriages 1853–1981 and
Burials 1854–1971 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office.
