TIMPERLEY

• Timperley was a township in Bowdon Parish, Bucklow Hundred (SJ 7787), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• In 1936 the whole of Timperley was added to Altrincham.
• The population was 588 in 1801, 1008 in 1851, and 3215 in 1901.

CHURCHES AND CHAPELS

• Bowdon, St. Mary (C of E). The ancient parish church for Timperley.
• Timperley, Christ Church (C of E). Built in 1849, a separate parish from 1852 serving the township of Timperley. Registers of Baptisms 1851–1976, Marriages 1853–1981 and Burials 1854–1971 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office.
• Altrincham, St. John the Evangelist (C of E). Serving part of Timperley since 1867.
• Baguley, St. John the Divine (C of E). Serving a small part of Timperley since 1867.
• Timperley, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1846.
