WALTON SUPERIOR

Walton Superior (or Higher Walton) was a township in Runcorn Parish, Bucklow Hundred (SJ 5985), which became a civil parish in 1866.
In 1936 the whole of Walton Superior was added to Walton civil parish.
The population was 193 in 1801, 220 in 1851, and 215 in 1901.

Daresbury, All Saints (C of E). An ancient chapelry in Runcorn parish.
Stockton Heath, St. Thomas (C of E). The parish church for Walton Superior from 1838.
Walton, St. John the Evangelist (C of E). A separate parish from 1879, serving the township of Walton Superior and parts of Acton Grange and Walton Inferior. Registers of Baptisms 1880–1947 and Marriages 1885–1987 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office. Registers of Burials from 1885 are held at the church.
