WESTON (near Crewe)

• Weston was a township in Wybunbury Parish, Nantwich Hundred (SJ 7352), which became a civil parish in 1866.
• Including the hamlets of Carters Green, Englesea Brook (part), Gorsthill, Rose Hill, Snape and Stowford.
• The population was 348 in 1801, 514 in 1851, 474 in 1901, and 544 in 1951.

CHURCHES AND CHAPELS

• Wybunbury, St. Chad (C of E). The ancient parish church for Weston.
• Weston by Crewe, All Saints (C of E). Founded 1838 as a chapel to Wybunbury, becoming the parsih church for Basford, Chorlton (near Crewe) and Weston in 1841. Registers of Baptisms 1843–1996, Marriages 1857–1983 and Burials 1850–1991 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office
• Englesea Brook, Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Registers 1842–1957 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
• Weston, Mount Pleasant Methodist Chapel (Primitive). Built in 1854, closed in 1959.
