WILDBOARCLOUGH

Wildboarclough (pronounced Will'berclough) was a township and chapelry in Prestbury ancient parish, Macclesfield hundred (SJ 9869), which became a civil parish in 1866.
The civil parish was abolished in 1981 to become part of Macclesfield Forest & Wildboarclough.
It includes the hamlet of Crag.
The population was 338 in 1801, 447 in 1851, 200 in 1901, and 168 in 1951.

1888 March 24 — Gained a detached part of Wincle (20 acres, pop. 6 in 1891), including Midgeley Gates and Danes Cottages
1936 April 1 — Gained part of Taxal (207 acres, pop. 7 in 1931)
1981 April 4 — Abolished and incorporated into Macclesfield Forest & Wildboarclough

Prestbury: St. Peter (Church of England). The ancient parish church for the township of Wildboarclough.
Macclesfield: St. Michael & All Angels (Church of England). The district church for Wildboarclough from 1835.
Forest Chapel: St. Stephen (Church of England). The district church for Wildboarclough from 1906.
Wildboarclough: St. Saviour. Founded in 1873 as a chapel to Forest Chapel: St. Stephen, but transfererd to Wincle: St. Michael in 1973.
