REGISTRATION DISTRICTS IN CARDIGANSHIRE

The list below shows the civil registration districts in Cardiganshire between 1837 and 1974. The same districts were used to compile the censuses returns for the years 1851 to 1911.

For the purposes of these pages "Cardiganshire" refers to:

the ancient county of Cardigan (1837–89)
the administrative county of Cardigan (1889–1974).

The county of Cardiganshire was abolished on 1.4.1974 to become part of the county of Dyfed.
