Welcome to the Golton Index

This is a project to list all British Goltons through their Birth, Marriage and Death records. In practice this index is only intended to cover deceased Goltons (but also as many Goultons as possible as it can be seen that some Goltons had Goultons as ancestors!). Most information present is from the period 1837 to 1912 but there are some exceptions. This is mostly due to the fact that central registration of Births only started in 1837. A lot of the original information comes from the indexes held at the Family Records Centre in London, England, but this has been added to as information from privately held family records is included.

The picture above shows Herbert Victor, Sidney Powell and Leonard William Golton standing behind their father Herbert William Golton. It was taken on his 90th birthday in April 1961 outside his house in Ilfracombe, Devon, England. He died only months later.
