REGISTRATION DISTRICTS IN RADNORSHIRE

The list below shows the civil registration districts in Radnorshire between 1837 and 1974. The same districts were used to compile the census returns for the years 1851 to 1921.

For the purposes of these pages "Radnorshire" refers to:

the ancient county of Radnor (1837–89)
the administrative county of Radnor (1889–1974).

The county of Radnorshire was abolished on 1.4.1974 and added to the county of Powys.

Knighton	Radnorshire	1837	1933	Abolished 1.4.1933 and divided between Radnorshire East, Clun and Leominster registration districts.
Presteigne	Radnorshire	1837	1877	Abolished 1.7.1877 and divided between Knighton and Kington registration districts.
Radnorshire East	Radnorshire	1933	1974	Created 1.4.1933 out of Kington and Knighton registration districts. Transferred to Powys on 1.4.1974.
Radnorshire West	Radnorshire	1933	1974	Created 1.4.1933 out of Rhayader Builth, Hay and Kington registration districts. Transferred to Powys on 1.4.1974.
Rhayader	Radnorshire	1837	1933	Abolished 1.4.1933 and divided between Radnorshire West and Builth registration districts.
