Cumberland, England : Classification : Certificate Ordering - Local BMD

Many council offices now offer the ability to order copy certificates online. The list below gives links to all of these offices and several other websites that we know of which offer this facility as a paid service.
These are not websites where you can search for BMD indexes, search websites can be found on the Local BMD and GRO BMD pages.

Please Note: The local Register Offices do not hold record for the whole country and so can only supply certificates for their own respective areas.

Several areas of the country already have online ordering system linked directly to their respective area's Local BMD website. Currently these areas are:

• Cheshire East Council
• Cheshire West and Chester Council
• East Riding of Yorkshire Council
• Lancashire Registration District, Certificate Services
• Tameside's Copy Certificates

For the above areas go directly to the Local BMD page and follow the instructions on the specific website on how to search and order certificates.

As always, you are recommended to make use of original records in preference to secondary data, so where possible use the local county register offices. If you cannot references to Local BMD indexes yet, then try the GRO's indexes and ordering service.
