the county created on 1.4.1974 from the counties of Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire and parts of the counties of Brecknockshire and Denbighshire.
the preserved county created on 1.4.1996 from the principal area of Powys.

Radnorshire East	Powys	1974	2009	Transferred from Radnorshire on 1.4.1974. Abolished 1.4.2009 and added to Powys registration district.
